Buzz Quill

My husband went to Georgia Tech and he is a huge fan for...reasons.  So I thought it would be great to make him something for his office that I knew he would love.  This project works for any sports team or mascot, in fact I may end up making a UF Gator one later.

First thing I did was research and get a design I liked.  I knew I wanted "Buzz" and the GT logo- so that was a great starting point for me.  I started with the GT because I thought that would be easier since the font is fairly standard.  I measured everything out and made the outline first which gave me direction but it also gave me more freedom with the design inside the letters.  I don't love tight rolls and I think swirly scrolls are much cooler looking, so I filled in the spots as I went to take up space without being too cluttered.  I also used 2 shades of gold for dimension.

Buzz himself was a little different.  I knew I couldn't mix colors there so I was going to have to be more creative with the pattern inside.  This actually worked out pretty great because having the differentiated pattern between the curly yellow and straight black made it pop more than I had thought.  Note: I still made the outlines first but pieced them together by section

I thought the framed final project was pretty cool.  And he must agree because it's on his wall right now :)
